We were once living and farming on our motherland.
The beginning
Born and raised in Ethiopia my mom was a farm girl. Following her dad everywhere, climbing citrus trees, harvesting papayas and observing her dad tending the land. Oblivious to her, these experiences would be the foundation of her food journey.
Times change. Diaspora happened.
The middle
From war came the diaspora. A time were my mom went through continues changes and taking in all she could learn from the lands,people and traditions she encountered. A time a pain and significant creativity.
Finding home in a far away land. Embraceing change.
New beginnings
Coming from and being influnced by a rich tradition that spans back to Turkey, Ethiopia and more. We Land in Minnesota. A frozen tundra that we called home and from were see started sharing our families foods.
